Testing in the era of Semantic Web

The new challenges for the tester of Web 3.0

Increasingly we spoke about web 3.0 and Semantic Web, that is its foundation. This half day tutorial is addressed to who want to have an introduction to the Semantic Web world, reflecting its impacts on the Information Society and Testing in particular.

The tutorial is purely informative and no prerequisites are required. This tutorial is divided into two parts; the first part is dedicated to the concepts and fundamental tools:

  • The Semantic Web and W3C, the normative (standard) and historical aspects
  • The Linked Data and RDF
  • The ontologies and OWL
  • The architecture of the Semantic Web
  • The SPARQL language

The second part is dedicated to original examples of how Semantic Web will transform IT applications, with a particular attention to the perspective of the tester:

  • The typical end-to-end flow for a web 3.0 application
  • The impacts of the new paradigm on the design and characteristics of IT applications with an example
  • The implication on Testing
  • Standard technologies in the service of the tester.

At the end of the tutorial some in-depht resources and articles about the tutorial issues will be provided.
