User Stories Guidelines

PayPal started some years ago probably the biggest agile transformation in the industry that's happened.

Moving from a waterfall model to an AGILE one, we've now self-driven smaller teams that own their products.

As International Quality Manager is part of my job to make sure that we are not inconsistent in the way we are looking at the AGILE elements such as Backlog, Sprints, and Stories across teams.

In order to keep this consistency it was necessary to clearly define our expectation in terms of User Stories creating Guidelines and providing them to all our geo-localized teams.

In this way we reduced feedback loops, potential communication conflicts and we gained in consistency (e.g.: A software developer in India would looks at the Stories on the same way a Product Manager in California does).
