Test in accordance with the reference model for continuous improvement CMMI Constellations

Costs, schedules, effectiveness, efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction are important business objectives for every company that intends to keep its leadership on the market. Consequently organizations adopt models that support them to achieve these objectives.

In a context of continuous improvement apt to address business objetcives of the companies, this tutorial introduces us to how to manage testing activities according to the reference CMMI-DEV v1.3, CMMI-SVC v1.3, CMMI-ACQ v1.3  models of Software Engineering Institute.

In particular, specific practices and sub-practices of the model concerning the process areas of Verification (VER) and Validation (VAL) in the matter of CMMI-DEV model and Service System Delivery (SSD) inherent in CMMI-SVC model are deepened.

It will be also object of the tutorial an overview about the Framework for Software Product Line Practices (Software Engineering Institute) in order to frame Testing activities for Product Line", with the aim to improve, for example, the quality of the product and reduce risks. In this "Product Line" context, Testing activities main features are analyzed:

  • help to identify faults that can lead to failures and so be able to take action in advance
  • specify wheter the software or product work meets its requirements
  • evaluate wheter the product or product component satisfies as required
